CENTRE MANAGER, STUDENT CARE SERVICES

The Centre Manager of Student Care Services (SCS) works closely with the Head / Acting Head, and leads the staff team to provide afterschool hour services for students placed under the care of CHIJ Sanctuary for Children (CHIJSC). Together, you are required to ensure the smooth operations of the Student Care Centre(s) by complying with MSF guidelines set to bring about the best services possible for our students.

Your focus will be aimed at developing and providing programmes/services to meet the developmental needs of the students to support their holistic development, and enable them to reach their full potential. CHIJSC is run based on a Catholic ethos and values. You will work with the Head, SCS to support outcome measurement, projects and work on SCS deliverables and outcomes.  

 

Role and Responsibilities

Operations

  • Oversee the daily operations of the centre(s), support Head, SCS in budgeting exercise(s), staff rostering, programme planning / scheduling, and resource allocation, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the centres.
  • Ensure that CHIJSC-SCS adhere to MSF standards and pass MSF audit with a min of ‘B’ grading
  • Manage and engage parents on matters regarding student affairs, teaching and learning issues.
  • Oversee the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, policies and guidelines to ensure compliance
  • Ensure overall safety and well-being of the students

Curriculum for Student Care Centres

    • Aligned with Centre plans, be involved in the development, implementation, working with SCS team and evaluation of a comprehensive curriculum that addresses the diverse needs of learners.
    • Collaborate with Student Outreach and Support Services (SOSS) teams to implement psycho-educational and therapeutic programmes that help in the holistic development of the SCS students
    • Introduce appropriate thematic programmes and activities that would meet the needs of the students and assess the effectiveness of these programmes.
    • Identify suitable staff to manage students, conduct and facilitate programmes/services.
    • Oversee programme implementation as per set curriculum.
    • Develop, measure and report impact of the programmes and initiatives.

      Counselling and Case Management

      • Ensure necessary interventions are put in place to work with schools / Family Service Centres / professionals to counsel the students to improve behaviour and studies where applicable
      • Ensure necessary steps are taken to support the needs of the students where applicable

      People Leadership and Management

      • Work with Head, SCS to support the professional growth and development of team members, providing guidance and resources to ensure effective instruction and practices.
      • Encourage cohesiveness and teamwork in the overall management of the Centre.
      • Support and develop SCS team members in implementing strategies to meet the needs of learners.
      • Conduct staff learning needs analysis to identify staff development opportunities
      • Promote values that would encourage staff to treat their colleagues and students with dignity and respect
      • Manage volunteers assigned to support SCS

        Budget Management

        • Manage overall budget and running cost of SCS Centre

        Community-Based and School-Based SCS Centres

        • Support Head, SCS in the implementation of expansion plans for both school-based and community-based centres where applicable

         Requirements

        • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with equivalent years of managerial experience.
        • Familiarity with Student Care will be an advantage.

        STUDENT MENTOR

        You work closely with the Student Care Services (SCS) – Heads, Senior Student Mentors / Student Mentors to support the programmes offered and services rendered.  You support the provision of safety and well-being of primary school children in this after-school setting.

        You are required to perform duties and tasks as assigned by the SCS seniors.

         

        Role and Responsibilities

        • Responsible for the safety and well-being of primary school children in an after-school setting
        • Create an environment where it is their home away from home for the afternoon while their parents are at work.
        • Inculcate IJ values of Truth, Justice, Freedom and Love
        • Provide homework and life-skill supervision
        • Plan and conduct social and recreational activities to nurture and develop students holistically -social, moral, emotional and intellectual aspects
        • Handle administrative classroom management tasks
        • Put together progress reports for the children
        • Attend to parents enquiries where necessary
        • Assist in implementing the program in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines, framework and philosophy of CHIJ Sanctuary for Children (CHIJSC)
        • Assist the Centre Manager with planning and implementing tasks
        • Identify specific needs in children and work with the Centre Manager to mitigate the situation

         

         

        Technical Competency

        • Ability to coach, engage and communicate with primary school children, in an age-appropriate nurturing manner
        • Primary School literacy skills in English, numeracy skills in Mathematics and ideally, Chinese
        • Class Management using positive discipline techniques at all times

        Core Competency

        • Nurturing and dedicated to the development and well-being of children

        Working Hours (Full-Time)

        • Normal school term : 10am to 7pm
        • School holidays*: 7.30am to 4.30pm or 10am to 7pm

        (*Staggered Hours pending Duty Roster) 

        Requirements

        • GCE ‘O’ Level and above preferably, or Minimally GCE ‘N’ Level or with relevant experience in children/ student minding
        • 1-2 years relevant experience preferred
        • Mid-career switches are welcome to apply
